The city of Naples was founded during the late 1880s by former Confederate General and Kentucky U.S. Senator John Stuart Williams and his partner. Tourism is a major industry for the city. The Naples areas is home to several major land reserves, including the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Everglades National park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, and Picayune Strand State Forest. Downtown Naples is home to The Naples Players, the 5th Avenue South, and 3rd Street South shopping districts, which feature a variety of antique shops. Things to Do

Of all the things to do in your new city, beaches are some of the most popular. The Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is a Florida State Park located on a barrier island near Naples, six miles west of I-75 in north Naples. The wildlife of the park includes bald eagles, ospreys, owls, loggerhead sea turtles, West Indian manatees, and migratory shorebirds. Activities include fishing, sunbathing, swimming, paddle boarding, boating, hiking, and much more. 

Vanderbilt Beach is also a great beach option for those in the Naples area. It is located north of the Pelican Bay census designate place and west of Naples Park along the Gulf of Mexico. Vanderbilt Beach is nine miles north of the center of Naples. Vanderbilt Beach is a great place to catch some sun and enjoy some quality time with your family.
