Marco Island has no shortage of things to do, and there are plenty of ways to entertain the kids. Walk, drive, or rent a bike to get your family around the Island. Everything is close to the lovely Marco Island rentals. You will find everything from water sports activities to all types of fishing.
Take a boat to Keewaydin Island or enjoy a rousing game of mini golf; the fun seems never-ending, as will be the memories you create for your children or grandchildren here on Marco Island.
Why This is a Kid-Friendly Destination
Marco Island is a safe place for kids to play outdoors. In fact, it is safer than 88% of all United States cities! The public beaches are safe too. Tigertail Beach has shallow waters that are perfect for younger children, and it is very rare to see a shark or alligator here. The beaches are all easy to access by walking.
Family Vacation Activities and Attractions
Marco Island has an abundance of family-friendly attractions and activities. Mackle Park is a neat area for kids to stretch their legs and imaginations. There is a huge splash sprinkler zone to run through and a massive jungle gym. Adults can join in a game of basketball, volleyball, bocce ball, ping-pong, soccer, or shuffleboard. You can all walk the trail together too.
There are a lot of water sports here and no shortage of rentals. Grab a few kayaks, a sailboat, paddleboats, wave runners, or even book a parasailing ride that will take you 300 feet above the Gulf. Kids and adults alike love it!
Fishing is popular on Marco Island, and there are plenty of onshore fishing spots near the Marco Island waterfront rentals. Anglers can charter a boat and explore the offshore fishing spots.
Family-Friendly Tours & Experiences
Eco tours are a ‘must’ on Marco Island. Dolphin Explorer is highlighted by National Geographic as being one of the places in the world that can change your child’s life, and for good reason. Kids can take the Dolphin Challenge on the three-hour cruise and go shelling on the beach. You might even get to see some sea turtles!
Keewaydin Island is another place your kids will love to go while staying on Marco Island. You can charter a boat to this undeveloped island located just off Marco Island’s coast. Its warm white sands and crystalline waters on one side of the island are perfect for shelling and swimming. Once your kids get bored of that, you can walk with them around the island and try to spot manatees, dolphins, bald eagles, spoonbills, and egrets. Wildlife abounds here, and kids will find it truly fascinating.
Marco Golf and Garden provides kids with a challenge. Its mini golf course is small but mighty, and even adults will find it challenging – in a fun way. It is open every day from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, so there are plenty of opportunities to go. It is just across the street from Beebe’s, which serves up some delicious ice cream.
Travel 35 minutes away to Naples and experience Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. Kids can meet all types of animals. If your kids are 5 or older, book the Wild Encounters experience (which must be done two days in advance). It gets your kids up close with animals, which includes feeding them and watching them be trained by their keepers. There is a Florida Panther Encounter, a Giant Anteater Encounter, and a Honey Badger Encounter, just to name a few!
There are also a lot of great places to eat. Make sure you grab a pizza from one of the local pizza places, as it is sure to satisfy all your hungry kiddos!
